you lose power literally when moving up to a weight you can't handle, it's not just about the opponent, but im sure JMM experienced the decrease in the snap of his punches, your technique can suffer and feeling slower will give you that feeling when your trying to move that weight around in the ring

strenght? i dont think his strenght changed much to be honest

good point, but jmm did weigh 144 lbs for the floyd fight, which is under 145, so lack of speed and strength is not a valid excuse for losing to floyd.

I was obvious he was too heavy, but now the question is can he drop the weight and regain the speed while not losing strength. History says the odds are against him but some have defied those odds.

          i agree with this.

you may lose speed, as you go up in weight, but idk about power. the guys you fight at higher weights are bigger, so that may render the power you have more ineffective than it was fighting smaller guys....but it doesn't mean you've lost power, b/c you can't hurt a bigger guy.

It is a valid excuse for losing to Floyd when he's fighting above his natural weight class and his opponent is optimum at that weight. remember, Floyd didn't weigh 144. He came in at 146 and refused to be weighed at fight night.

JMM is a counterpuncher he relies on handspeed, reflex and timing, all three which are affected by a weight increase. I'm not saying he would have beat Floyd, I'm saying that the characteristics that make JMM who he is were affected at that weight. It was a ****** move on his part. He lost.

He did lose some strength because he was carrying around extra weight and he's not used to fighting at 147.

The fight has to take place at 135 for JMM to even have a chance against a prime Pac. I don't want to see this fight at 140 or 147 because JMM's only chance against a prime Pac is at 135. Arum, Roach, and Ariza have said multiple times Manny can easily make 135.

It might not have been such a dramatic difference if he had more time to get to and adjust to the change in weight. I still don't think he would have beaten Mayweather though.

Or even elite JWW's for that matter. But lets go a little further.

Those who claim that JMM/Mayweather was a legitimate fight than are saying that

JMM/Mosley would have been a legitimate fight
JMM/Cotto would have been a legitimate fight
JMM/Berto would have been a legitimate fight

Just think about that for a second. How ridiculous is that?

Why didn't you say any of this BEFORE you got humiliated?

During training, you kept saying how strong and fast you felt.
