  • Gary Shaw: I Rather fight Khan, Maidana or Ortiz First, They Have Losses

"Personally, I would rather fight Khan (pictured at right) first, and here is my reasoning. Khan has a loss, Maidana has a loss, Ortiz has a loss. And two of the three are from outside of the United States. Devon Alexander is an American fighter with an unblemished record. Tim Bradley is an American fighter with an unblemished record. So, I say, let Timmy fight Khan or Maidana, and let Devon Alexander fight Khan or Maidana, and then let the two winners meet, which was my idea all along," said Shaw.

"I was called by a radio station about Khan's Twitter message, and I immediately e-mailed Richard Schaefer and said, this is what you're fighter is saying," said Shaw. "I sent an e-mail not only to Richard, but to [HBO's president of sports] Ross Greenburg aswell. I got back an e-mail from Richard saying, 'I will talk to Amir'
Bradley was pausing when asked about Alexander.

In which sequence do you think they should fight?

Alexander would be the biggest fight at 140 between the 2 top undefeated young fighter in the weight class. Khan, Maidana, Ortiz would be meaningful fights, but I'd expect Bradley to win all of them, Alexander would have the best chance in winning.

I believe Alexander would beat khan and maidana. I cant judge about Bradley because I haven't seen his recent performance. The logic behind holding the Bradley-Alexander fight back is the money involved.

HBO has already said they want the fight in Jan, they're waiting on is how much money HBO is willing to put up...

if they both went towards taking the other top names out(which i know isn't very likely considering it HBO we're talking about) then this fight would just get bigger and bigger.

        Alexander stops Khan.

        Bradley stops Ortiz.

        Alexander/Bradley would be huge.

If they will do it like this then so be it.It's better than not doing it at all.

Obviously I'd prefer a direct Bradley-Alexander fight but hey that's politics.

I wanna see Bradley vs Khan as soon as humanly possible.

I don't care about the result, even though I think Khan would win, it would just lay so many demons to rest in the sport.

On top of that, it would be a better PPV earner than Brad bs Alexander cos of the Brit factor know?

I want the fight in the UK.

I gotta disagree, I think their needs to be a mini tounrey of sorts between Khan-Bradley and Maidana-Alexander.

To me doing Bradley-Alexander next would be a mistake for both guys career wise because after that there isn't really anything left to prove at 140 and all their follow up fight choices would be a serious step down.

I think it is pretty clear that GBP wants Bradley and Alexander to eliminate each other to make things easy on Amir Khan.

Problem is that I believe the Bradley-Alexander winner would then be forced into fighting Marcos Maidana and saving Amir Khan from him as well while Khan fights a 135lb'er.
