He should have went. Let's blame Teddy Atlas for his no-show!

Who exactly should Wlad fight, who is at least dangerous to him on paper and is ranked in the IBF/WBO, if Povetkin refuses?

Anyone who says Toney might as well say Lance Armstrong, James is not even in boxing right now.

All we have is a date of September 11, a rented soccer stadium and Wladimir Klitschko in the red corner.

****** as hell. It's not like Povetkin's been avoiding the fight - Teddy and he have both said more than once that they didn't feel ready for the challenge before, and are ready now.

I actually kinda like Wlad, but using Sam Peter as a threat is ****in weaksauce.

If you're going to replace Povetkin for missing a ****** press conference then don't come with Sam Peter....get an Odlanier Solis or a Denis Boytsov to make it interesting.

Boytsov and Solis aren't ready for Wlad, neither of them would even dare to step into the ring against Wlad on September 11. If Povetkin backs out, I think Peter would be a good replacement. Wlad/Peter was one of the most entertaining heavyweight fights of the 2000s. Peter is next in line after Povetkin, he's the IBF #2 contender and is coming off an impressive 2nd round KO over Nagy Aguilera (who was coming off a 1st round KO over Maskaev). Peter looked very strong and fast at 237 lbs against Aguilera, he was nearly 30 lbs lighter than he was for the Chambers fight. Hopefully Povetkin mans up and fights Wlad, if he backs out, I wouldn't mind seeing Wlad KO Peter in a rematch.

                    That was an awesome fight.
It should be a better fight, since Sam Peter has improved immeasurably since that fight, in which Klitschko virtually gave him a boxing lesson. Their respective styles should make it interesting, although I would expect Klitschko to win comfortably. Still....one punch can change everything, this IS heavyweight boxing.

As for Klitschko not chosing either Solis or Boytzev, they truly are NOT ready yet for a real professional boxing match especially with a Klitschko; Povetkin is far more capable, since he's had a huge amateur career. Yet, he ALSO did not want to fight Klitschko yet, he was very clear on that a few months ago, and good old word torturer Teddy Atlas was even clearer. But Klitschko began making noises about Povetkin having been the mandatory challenger for 2 years, when would he ever say he was ready, etc, etc. Also Klitschko said he would ask the IBF to remove him from his #1 position, so after that they said they were ready, and REALLY wanted the fight.

I still think that they don't.

Solis had quite the amateur career himself. I'd rather see him fight for the title than the horrible Sam Peter.
