Clottey who most thought beat Cotto.

Pac fought him as a backup plan, cuz' Floyd accused him of being a drug cheat with no evidence.

If not for that, the fight would've been done in March.

Furthermore, imagine the *****tardation if Pac would've had Campbell/Mali***gi/Matt Hatton as potential fights.

    Cotto/Tony >>> anyone else.

JMM fight was a sham, he jumped from 135 to 147 with no fights in between and he's 36. His fighting shape was that of a man who looked like he ate 6 cakes just to make 144 the night before the weigh in. Pac is built for these weights and JMM wasn't
I can see your point, Pacquiao has proved his worth at 140 and 147. Marquez didnt have his chance but fighters have gone from 135 to 147 with success before. Marquez looked terrible, But I think he looked bad because of what he was up against. Not because of the weight, I think the result would have been exactly the same at 130 or 135.

I dont understand people saying Floyd elected not to fight Cotto, Floyd said he wanted the fight but it didnt happen. In situations like that you have to look at who is promoting the guys, Arum had Mayweather and Cotto at the same time when they were both champions at 140. But he was feuding with Mayweather at the time, Proberbly saw his exit coming and knew Cotto would be his next cash cow. So he wanted to keep building him, That's my theory anyway.

Floyd is full of contradictions. He also said Cotto is not a draw and he lives too far away.

Yeah, I'm sure Floyd would beat JMM at any weight and at any point in their careers, still doesn't mean a jump like that is a viable thing. JMM is just a small guy.

The Cotto/Floyd fight was being built up similar to how Pac/Floyd currently is. 2008 was the perfect fight and the perfect status builder for both fighters. Undefeated prime fighters. Cotto was a machine and Floyd the technician...everyone said, what would Floyd do when he realizes that hit pot shots would have 0 effect on Cotto and Cotto would come to murder his body...it would have been huge. Cotto went everywhere and said the fight would be great but he can't force May into the ring. It was his version of a call-out. May went on TV and said he lives to far and that he needs to be his own boss. It was shameful but I got over it, figured Cotto was just one guy that he wanted no part of and would move onto other fights. Then he mysteriously retires.
