People forget Mosley/Mayorga. I'm sure Floyd never forgot.

Mosley had trouble beating Mayorga. Coming into the 12th round, it was a close fight. In fact, Mosley was winning a VERY CLOSE SD coming into the 12th. A gassed out, de-chinned Mayorga succumbed to Mosley's power in the 12th, though. And that's what people remember, the flashy, highlight reel KO.

I'm sure Mayweather, being one of the most intelligent boxers out there (in and outside the ring), knew what he was getting into.

There was no chance Mosley would beat Mayweather. None.

If you have trouble winning a decision against Mayorga, you have no business in a P4P list, no elite status whatsoever.

The only elite fighters @ 147 right now are:

    Floyd Mayweather

    and

    Manny Pacquiao

Then he destroyed Margarito one fight later... if he hadn't of fought Mosley people would of still been ****ting on him about it to this day, come on.

I had him winning, but it was a very close fight.

How in the world can magazines consider someone who is barely winning/barely losing a DECISION against a street brawler with minimal boxing training a P4P fighter is a mystery.

Sure, Mosley has had a great career. But Mosley hasn't been P4P in a while.

His last three prior to floyd, though - A loss to Cotto, A KO on Mayorga (which hardly tells the true story, though), and the Margi fight.

Really, he only had 1 good showing in 3 fights and people assumed he was going to be some serious threat. Not to mention there was a whole year and some change layoff involved, and a double training camp that can potentially over train.

No way was mosley ever going to win that fight IMO

Or better yet another way you can look at it is that Shane is a dangerous guy to the very last second.

Also the Mayorga fight was at 154. Shane only looked really good at 154 in only fight and that was the rematch with Vargas. After that all his fights at 154 Shane looked eh.

However, at 147 he destroyed Margarito. And, Margarito overall was a better fighter than Mayorga.

So you add that Shane is not only a better fighter at 147 than he is at 154. But, he also showed his dangerous to the very last second.

Yea he lost to Cotto. But, I do think that was a good showing against Cotto. Considering where Cotto was at the time. I scored that fight a draw. But, it was a fight that was very close and competitive. And, again at the time Cotto was no joke. And, the fight before that Shane beat Collazo decisively only fighter to do that

Now all that in the bold is a very good and valid point. It was a 16 month layoff the longest layoff of his career. Which hurts Shane especially since he is never been the sharpest guy. And, that layoff might have killed and plus he lost momentum from the Margarito fight.

Also the back to back training camp for his age probably killed him too. He did probably over trained, probably peak too soon, there was rumors before the fight that he was getting busted up in sparring... So that is a good point.
