Put you off boxing? Anyone else think boxing is dying because of ego's and greed? Or am i the only one that feels this way?
Does all this business and ego crap......

That is its main problem.
Just look at the UFC fighters. The top guys make like 400K tops and thier PPVs have sold more then a million.
Then you have Mayweather Making 40 mil for a fight that sells the same amount of PPVs
I love Boxing but its slowly dying and Floyd/Pac thing has only made people get turned off even moe from boxing
Let me tell you this, if Boxi was controlled like the UFC, we would have seen Pac/Floyd a LONG time ago along with a rematch
Remove the money aspect and Floyd fights more then once a year and will be told who to fight -
That's why these crooked state commissions, boxing organizations (belts) and promoters need to go. There truly needs to be a league of sorts that removes these organizations...your right...if all these middle men were removed, we'd have seen Floyd/Cotto prime 4 prime, Floyd/Manny, Cotto/Margarito 2 and the Jr. WW and featherweight divisions wouldn't be filled with a **** load of prima donnas believing their multi-million dollar fighters when they aren'tThat is its main problem.

Business and greed has always been part of the sport and always will be.
I expect that type of ****, but I also hope for and expect to see the most important fights to materialize.
This whole May/Pac saga has just gotten annoying.
It hurts boxing a lot in the US that it's hardly on network TV. You can call that greed (it goes on HBO), but it's also the fact that boxing does not attract many sponsors.
If greed and "it's simply business" was something that kills boxing, it would've died LONG ago.Last edited by Thread Stealer; 07-16-2010, 09:43 PM.Comment

Yea theres a lot of Crap in the JW division it is just unreal. Theres 4-5 great fighters but they just dont fight each other. That's why these crooked state commissions, boxing organizations (belts) and promoters need to go. I mean im tired of Prime fighters not facing other prime fighters. Last 1 was Cotto-Marg and since then i havent really seen any.
You'd think 40 or 50 mil is well more then enough for 1 fight but for some reason we cant get those fights.
Look at UFC, thier top guys fight at thier PRIMES, which are sometimes 8-0 or 10-0 and Lesnar got a title fightat like 3-1Comment

It doesn't attract many sponsors because its hard for top tier athletes to promote their **** if they fight once or twice a year. If they fought more (barring injury) then they would attract more sponsors. Why would sponsors want to endorse some boxer who fans never see? The greats in other sports are always in consistent display, where us boxing fans and casuals don't see them often...its sad. Just niche sponsors go after boxing...there really needs to be a complete overhaul of the system...get rid of everything. I would support anyone coming and doing a leagueBusiness and greed has always been part of the sport and always will be.

Its a whole new playing field...the economics are vastly different. Before Tyson...nobody was making this type of money. Also, there was more TV money, more to share. ABC, NBC, ESPN and more were involved. The pot was bigger. Now its just HBO and Showtime (to an extent). Its a different world...all its about is PPV. Guys don't fight for pride and honor anymore it seems. Just a select fewComment
