Goku and Vegeta fought twice and both times ended up 1-1(Goku had help the first time he fought Vegeta, and the 2nd time Vegeta knocked Goku out when he wasn't paying attention).

I always believed Vegeta was stronger though. In a 1 on 1 battle, Vegeta is far too ruthless to lose to Goku

Thank you for the help been awhile since I've seen it I always got the feeling Goku was stronger despite that I like Vegeta better

when i got older i started watching dragonball z late at night on cartoon network.

i think the latest i got was when the skinny buu split up from the fat buu.
