According to Zanfer Promotions, Humberto "Zorrita" Soto will defend his WBC lightweight title on September 4 in Chetumal, Mexico. Both Soto and Marco Antonio Barrera are taking fights before a possible meeting at the end of the year in Mexico. Several possible candidates are being discussed for Soto's next fight. Barrera is being set to return on September 15 in Mexico as part of a special Mexican Independence Day card. Zanfer has tried to get former champion David Diaz to fight Barrera on the card.

This is garbage, is this not the same WBC that stripped Tim Bradley for not facing Devon Alexander. Same organization that Stripped Chad Dawson. WBC has become the most worthless sanctioning body, they clearly don't treat fighters fair. Soto shoud have to face Peterson b/c Barerra

lamont peterson is in a different weight class and he lost his last fight to bradley,anthony peterson is in soto's weight class,they were going to fight,but now peterson will be facing brandon rios next week which i like more than peterson facing soto,i'm looking forward to that match up
