    Boxing and consumerism

Alright, a little bit of philosophy here. Please don't start running away, just read the whole post at least. At least a half of it... Alright.

I'm not an old-time boxing fan, I am not old in a wider sense since I'm 27 year old. By the way I have happened to notice by comments around the net, specially on youtube, a whole flock of spolied young kids (and also less-young kids), who declare without a drop of shame, that fighters like Vitali Klitschko, or Floyd Mayweather jr. are boooring. Not to mention the "gayweather" hype, very similar to the "cowardzaghe" or "slappy" hype...

Now, this makes me su****ious. Could it be that in the past times, decades ago, let's say, pre-WWII times, ther were similar kids (and older guys too) who had the "guts" to call, I don't know, Henry Armstrong or Primo Carnera boooring? I seriously doubt that. I hope not at least. Honestly.

Well: may it be that the whole wealth thing, I mean, broadcasting oneself, attention craving fashion victim ego-maniac yuppie mentality that came along with the 1980s, has eventually made its way though the fragile brains of video-games-chips-and-sprite addict youngsters?

I don't know men, I just cannot explain myself how some hyper-skilled, talented, brilliant fighters could ever get the attributes of "boring" or "****", or a reigning world champion being treated so disrespectfully, and in a way so widely accepted, or, at best, ignored.

Some people, specially youngsters, seem so busy trying to escape the natural sorrow and pain that's implied in anyone's existence, and the unavoidable effort that's required to live a decent life, that they happen to lose the sense of reality.

Bottom line: please, if any administrator of this site will ever spot me writing words like "boring", "gayweather", "cowardzaghe", or similar... Please, delete my account straight away. Do it for me. Cut the power off, unplug me. Because it would mean that The Nothing has made its way into my brains at last, and has left no space for anything else.
    Thank you.

People need to find things to hate.

The fact is they can't rip on Floyd for his skills, wealth or fame so they just call him boring and gay.

I really don't think things are that different for how people perceive things or what they say. The difference is loudmouth idiots who used to just be "that crazy guy that yells" on the street corner or at the bar is now a commenter on YouTube.

In some ways it's much better. I don't really know any boxing fans personally, but I can read about and discuss boxing with people.

could it be in past times, decades ago, lets say pre-WWII times, that the average person had very little education? if the current national average of americans that have a college education is 18%, then what do you think it was during that era? take into consideration that there was probably a dozen universities during that time, if that.
also take into consideration that an audience of that time was about as advanced as a viewing audience of a current 3rd world country. people were just plain old dumb. working in sweatshops at 5 instead of kindergarten.
america is far more advanced in this day. look at little kids whizzing around computers, hacking xbox's, coding, etc. todays 13 year old is more than likely smarter than a 30 year old man from those time.
dont forget that many times, the real answer isn't as satisfying as one would imagine it to be. so dont be surprised if you fall into this category.
when you have mma being targeted at the 18-30 year old demographic and they get desensitized with knockout after knockout. blood baths and etc, you can see how a 18 year old would rather watch ko's than science? this is the times of the quick fix, which unfortunately is the lifeblood of society. do you see where im going here?
floyd is a defensive counterpuncher. its not a style that skeeter joe will fall in love with. those sort of people dont exactly want to see an intelligent fighter not get hit and get a points win. plus errbody likes to see a loudmouth get his mouth ****** shut. these sort of people like to tear the best down, it makes them feel better about themselves.

                did i cover everything?

Wow, I've heard a lotta things in my life, but I had missed a guy calling La Motta and Ali boring. I knew that Ali was tagged a loudmouth, and that's comprehensible, but a boring fighter... Well, we never cease to learn.
