Emanuel Augustus Appreciation Thread.....

After the fight, Augustus said he wants to go after Hatton. I saw on an interview and Augustus said that in many of his fights he would take rounds off just to entertain and so the fight was close and would be seen on HBO. Honestly, he is one of the best talents boxing has seen I would love to see him fight a good fighter such as Hatton, I think he could do some damage.Comment

My favorite Augustus fights....
1 - VS Ward - Augustus showed he is just as much warrior as he is clown.
2 - VS Burton - AT the end of this fight, Burton had a look in his eye like he had been ****d.
3 - VS Wilches - Augustus takes the fight on two days notice and stops the guy. Beautiful.Comment

let's start ****in' the drum to have Emmanuel substitute for Branco and fight COTTO later this year! That would be, on paper, one of the most entertaining possible match-ups!!!
Anyhow, I became an Augustus fan the night he and Mickey Ward went to war, still the best ESPN2 fight in history IMO, Letterlough-Gonzalez is a close 2ndComment

Emmanuel is the man. if he only learned how to put his hands up he would be a very very serious competitor (not that he isnt now) but by doing such he could walk right into even bigger things (Titles and the likes) No matter what he is definitely one of my favorite and most entertaining fighters to watch.Comment

Yah, if he learned to stop taking so many unecessary punches, he could be much higher in the ranks. He seems to have all of the quickness and footspeed to be able to avoid and block punches more, but it seems more like he chooses not to.
Edit: I just watched his most recent fight today, and I'd only ever seen two before that. I saw the fight against Ward, and I saw another where he lost a decision, because of all his clowning in the ring. Not that I want him to stop clowning, but I think the judges don't like it sometimes. Anyway, he seemed to fight very differently in each fight. It's almost as if he's boxing without a trainer, and just does whatever he feels like.Last edited by Red_Menace; 07-11-2005, 08:51 PM.Comment

i've been saying it for years, that his record doesn't represent him well at all. the man's record is ****,but when you watch him fight, your like, is his record right??? this guy can fight! well too. plus he entertaining.
i like when he fights and gets that rhythm going, he actually makes it more of a sport than a fight game, cause he's in the ring having a good time. not trying to be all serious and acting like a stuck up over confident prick like a lot of fighters.
he has a solid chin, and always comes to fight a 100%, even taking fights on short notice.....
he is a true warrior, a drunken master if you will, like they said a fnf's. and they don't make fighters like him any more...there is only a short list of real true to the bone fighters and he is in the think of it!!! much respect to Augustus, and the fighters like him..... Ray Olivera is one of those kind of fighters too, giving it his all, mad respect to him as well....Comment

hmm
Would someone PM me one of his fights? We had a hurricane here so I didn't get to see the one vs Olivera.Comment
