Nunn and McCallum were both top 10 p4p fighters when he beat them, but I would say his best win was against Jirov. Jirov was an undeafeated World Champion, Olympic Gold Medalist(Most Outstanding fighter at the 1996 games).

Jirov was bigger, stronger, younger, faster and Toney put on one of the most amazing counterpunching clinics ever seen in a boxing ring. People forget how good Jirov was before that fight and just Toney ruined him.

toney ****d jirov, he's never been the same after that fight. the nunn fight is one of the most inspirational fights i've ever seen, nunn was walking away with the decision and then james knocked his ass out

        hmm

I was rooting for James big time in that fight vs Jirov, and he desperately needed the knockdown to win. Ledderman's cards are usually very reliable and he had it 113-113. I was biting my nails when they read the cards. In the last round when Toney had Jirov hurt, it was classic when Emmanuel was yelling and screaming like a school-girl. I was the only one in my house, it was dark, and I was a foot from the TV yelling "KNOCK HIM THE **** OUT" at the top of my lungs when Toney was about to put Jirov down in the 12th. Unforgettable fight, and Toney's best performance. Getting outboxed and then getting a surprise KO doesn't merit a great performance; that's a great WIN. Vs Jirov, Toney performed the whole fight, not just in the very end.

If anyone has Toney's fights vs McCallum and Nunn, email them to me.

6-4-1 going into the 12th was my score...maybe 6-5 Toney, maybe 7-4 Toney, but I can't see how you scored the fight for Jirov. Toney landed over 400 punches and totally landed the sharper, more effective punches. Go watch the fight again. The only way I could see you arguing for Jirov is if you cannot tell when punches land and don't land.

Jirov should have sat on his stool in between rounds and rested his legs. It came back to haunt him in the last couple rounds.

Hard to know what his best win was - certainly McCallum and Nunn were the most talented boxers he beat. But for me, Toney was at his finest was when he completely wrecked Iran Barkley (who had just beat Hearns). Talk about a boxing clinic...

Mccallum wasnt his best win man Mccallum woulda been about 40 by 1992 ?? Thats an old man Toney was picking on.

i think JTs best win was Prince charles williams but not far behind are how he just took apart Dewitt and Iran Barkley
