is it because he's filipino and was told that he'll be signing as well, but he thought they said singing

I don't think anything will happen but I do find it strange that this years fighter of the year will be part of the event. Every year since the ESPYs began the fighter of the year was always announced before the event so I do find that a bit interesting. Either way, regardless who wins I think they will just go up there, accept the award and leave. I expect no future talks or any juicy details. It would be brilliant to announce the fight on this stage though but boxing never does anything brilliant.
