Did Margarito really serve a long enough punishment?

Although we will never know if he used illegal wraps in previous fights, we know there was attempt to cheat. Margarito didn't spend any time in jail and only had a one year ban in the sport. Compared to Luis Resto, he truly got chump change and it is one of the reasons in Margaritos comeback we seen him mocking the whole situation by flaunting to the camera his clean wraps. The California Athletic Commission didn't do its job when they sentenced him and they should of taken the route of what New York did to Resto. It sickens me in the stomach to think that a one year ban was what they found suitable for a man that came into the ring to end a fighters life.

Yes, one year is enough for the crime.

Its because the situations are totally different Check.

Stop being ******ed about this ****.

One guy actually had plaster dipped wraps, and the padding cut out of the glove, the other guy had a trainer that was being yelled at by Richardson and grabbed some old gauze pads and put them on his freaking hands.

    Apples and oranges goddamnit.

        To your question, yes.

I don't think he even deserved to be suspended. CSAC owes him a year of purses.

He was suspended and couldn't re-apply for a year. So it is not a year suspension they may never license him. Also he hasn't come clean, if he finally admits it instead of blaming his trainer he might had been re-instated already

Even if you feel like this Jack, it's a mistake that just can't happen in this sport. I don't need to tell you or anyone on this site how dangerous the sport is so I won't go in depth about that but what went down is one of the first cardinal sins in the sport. Even if Margarito didn't know and the trainer made a mistake it just can't happen and a stiff punishment needed to be brought down to prevent something like this from happening. Margarito probably shouldn't get life but that trainer needs to be banned for life.

Based on the evidence, his punishment was fine. But in my opinion, he should face criminal charges because I'm just so convinced that he used them on Cotto.

Bull$h!t and you know it! Old gauze pads. Manny Steward still has Lennox Lewis' handwraps from forever ago and said its not the same. They both(margarito and trainer) knowingly attempted to cheat and being this is boxing witch is a deadly sport anyway, should've gotten a LIFETIME BAN. KCUF that dude!

Margarito hasn't had a license to fight in the US in a year and a half. THe one year punitive period has long passed.

Margarito was suspended indefinitely, it says so on his suspension report. He is not allowed to box until he re-applies for his license in California.

Edit: Yes he can reapply in other states but no state is going to overrule California, just watch.
