Duran vs Hagler - good fight?

I never saw it. I was in high school then and though I was afan, I was also a teenager that was distracted every weekend.

I never have seen the fight, read about the fight...other than that Hagler won a close decision.

Was it competitive? Was it boring? Was it toe to toe action? Should it have been a close decision or was it did Duran get some sympathy rounds? A review would be nice. Thanks.

(I'ma Hagler and Duran fan...so don't sugar coat it for me )

I just recently saw it and it was close but it was clear that hagler won..duran got tired towards the end

Excellent fight. Duran gave Hagler 15 rounds of hell and was actually winning from what I remember through 10 or 11 rounds. Hagler just outlasted him and landed the better punches down the stretch.

That's why I get sick when I read these threads about Mayweather beating Durans ass at 135 or 140, or Corrales KOing Duran at 140. I'd like to see those ****ers go up and give Hopkins 12 rounds of pure hell...it just wouldn't happen and they'd be KTFO.

Anyway, it was a good fight and Duran fought valiantly. He was just outmatched down the stretch.

Wow. Classic bombs away fight? I nearly cried when Duran got KO'd by Thomas. Hitman was the wrong style for Duran. And styles make fights and I guess, from your opinions, he had a good chance with Hagler!

PS Uh...no way Corrales gets by young Duran. No way. No way. He was more vicious than Castillo from punch output, accuracy, counters and rough housing. Duran would hit you at the Referee's Instruction if it wouldn't DQ him. If there was a Mount McKinley for Boxers, Duran's face would be on it.

the funny thing about the fight was afterwards..hagler looked as if he thought he lost and duran thought he won..hagler didnt even raise his hands right about the rihgt..he jus kept motioning as if "this was crap"

It was a good fight but Hagler clearly won. I think Hagler didn't take Duran to serious, if he did he would've knocked him out. If they ever had a rematch, Hagler would've knocked out Duran. Hagler in all of his rematches, he knocked out all of them the second time around.

It was Hagler's first "Super Fight".
He seemed tense, & also gave Duran too much respect.
He boxed too much, & was not really committing to his punches.
He should have asserted his size far more than he did.

Duran, however, does deserve a ton of credit. He took some good shots, created a puzzle for Hagler, & got some good work done himself in there.

Not a great fight.....but a good one.
