This would be a hell of a fight. Mares handled Perez's power well so if he can do the same with Vasquez he should win a UD.

I thought Mares was a great boxer but he didnt even outbox Perez (he outworked him), and Perez is a Tamara type of fighter, he waits till you get tired and then he koes you.

See Vazquez fights against Bedak, he outboxed the boxer. All the time Vazquez hit him with the 1-2 punch combination.

Vazquez has improved dramatically, people dont give him the credit he deserves.

I haven't seen enough of Vasquez to make an accurate prediction, but Mares is a really good talent and it's gonna take a bigger really good talent (or great talent) to beat him.

Jumping from the competition he was facing to retina surgery to a monster the caliber and style of Perez and winning the championship rounds tells me enough about this kid.

You put Perez in there with any prospect and I guarantee they'd be broken down before the 12th round. Kid is special.

they are in different weight classes. right now this fight is not gonna happen maybe in the future but if they fight i think vazquez jr. is bigger stronger hits harder has great stamina so i think vazquez TKO him in the later rounds.

it will be a tough fight though mares had a huge amateur background he's one of the best in the world and has more experience than vazquez.
