Comments Thread For: Pacquiao's Adviser: We're Still Willing To Fight Margarito

Despite Friday's decision by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, seven-division champion Manny Pacquiao would still consider Antonio Margarito as the opponent for November 13 - if Floyd Mayweather Jr. fails to accept a fight proposal by mid-July.

The general public and mainstream media would fully embrace that fight with open arms..

Obviously, no one bothered to tell this genius adviser this, but the problem with his logic is that (as far as I know) there is no casino in Mexico willing to pay a $10 million site fee for a Pac/Margarito fight; and HBO likely would not be willing to pay the rights fee to broadcast a fight unless Margarito gets his license reinstated. So they would essentially have to rely on the live gate and PPV to recoup their money. The people in Mexico and the Phillipines are mostly dirt poor. The Pac/Clottey fight drew 55,000 and still only had a $5 million live gate. They could draw 150,000 to a stadium in Mexico and the live gate would still be less than that $5 million. I can't see Pac (with his God-like ego) and Margarito spltting $3 million, after expenses, of the live gate, plus the revenue for 80,000 PPV buys.

                    (cut and paste) cough.

Pac will fight Marcheato anywhere on the planet. Why not in Manila? Pac is a warrior, he fights anyone, that is anyone without serious defensive skills. Floyd is just too much!
