the catchweight was meaningless in that fight.

IF they fight again, and it's a catchweight, that would be bull**** though and cotto if put in that position needs to man up and say no.
wld u say not to that money and exposure??

for the first fight it wouldn't of mattered if cotto weighed in at 147.At 154 i really think it would be a different fight, but i still thinks pac wins a decision.

catchweight fights happen all the time and rarely does it mean much, especially in this case when we're talking about 1 pound. Pernell Whitaker came down in weight still schooled chavez. Hopkins came down in weight to 156 from 160 and still schooled oscar. In fact, almost always the big guy coming down wins. Check history.

Ask yourself if cotto vs pac would turned out any differently if not for that one pound.

now i dunno how it was for cotto. but u are wrong on ur premise. one pund can be extremely difficult for a fighter to lose. the weight loss part of training can be the hardest part for many fighters. ur wrong bro...1 pound means something.

The second time around hell yeah. Cotto already got money & exposure. If margarito cant fight in the US and if Pac cant fight Floyd, Cotto actually DOES have some negotiating power of his own since Pac really aint got no where else to go. All cotto has to say, "no catweight and we can fight" and pac would be forced to do it, or fight some lesser named opponent

I think it hurt him no doubt...affecting his strength...and the rumor was something akin that he couldn't weigh a certain amount by fight time...whether that's true or not, we'll never know. (unless there's facts to support it)

Either way, it sapped some of his strength but the main issue was Cotto's cornerman. Fix that (Steward) and maybe the outcome will be different. He may not win due to the speed differences, but he can make it more competitive

You must be pumped for the Pac-Cotto rematch then.

I'm as big as a Cotto fan there is, but stop making excuses for Cotto about the weight. He didn't lose because he had to weigh 145, he admitted the weight wasn't an issue. The problem was he was training himself, there is no way anyone is going to beat Manny if they are preparing themselves for the fight.
