Comments Thread For: Schaefer: Amir Khan Could Fight in America in December

The ring return of Amir Khan (23-1, 17KOs) has a lot factors involved. Khan is set to make the third defense of his WBA junior welterweight title on December 11. Other than the actual date, nothing about his next ring appearance is set in stone, including where the fight takes place. [Click Here To Read More]

Khan should stay in the UK until he's ready to fight Bradley or Alexander.

Hopefully JMM turns him down again or loses to Diaz because his size, power, decent speed, and slow feet will get abused by Khan en route to a UD.

I had hoped for so much more ambition from Khan.

It is pretty clear GBP preferred option is Marquez. That fight would sell in the States and would make more sense there than the UK. We will not know who Khan is fighting until after the Marquez Diaz fight is done. In the mean time we will be told that Khan will fight anyone and that he ducks no one when it is clear his management is doing their level best to make sure he ducks everyone.

If he fights in America there is no way maidana will be the opponent. Khan only went to America for the big money fights and that's what Richard will give him. If he stays in England it will be more likely that he'll fight maidana.

marquez has one more big payday if he beats diaz: vs pac or khan... if he's smart, he'll pick pac. either guy will retire him unless he proves he can turn back the clock significantly

Hasn't the Marquez-Diaz winner got to fight Katsidis before the end of the year though?

I don't see why Khan is looking to fight a by then 37 year old lightweight anyway.

People criticized him for fighting Paulie and he was a top ten L.welter.

That is if they want to keep the title but if the winner decides to vacate in order to fight Khan for $$$$$ Katsidis then becomes champion I believe.

This guy has Marquez on the brain and no amount of criticism, or verbal abuse, will change his mind. He's obsessed like a kid for candy. He wants an easy fight, even though everyone knows he's running from any kind of threat. He doesn't hear the boos and taunts, he acts like they are compliments. The problem is that Marquez would rather die than to take any crap like this, so he'll fight him.
