Comments Thread For: Carl Froch Talks DeGale, Jeffries, Groves and Smith

In his recent Nottingham Post column, former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch takes a look at some of the up and coming super middleweights in the UK. Froch has sparred with Tony Jeffries and and George Groves, who makes his American debut on the Marquez-Diaz undercard on July 31 in Las Vegas. He is impressed with the ring skills of Brian Magee, Paul Smith and James DeGale, who captured gold in the 2008 Olympics. [Click Here To Read More]

George Groves and Smith are probably the best of the bunch.

I can safely say, that's the first article that I have ever read where Froch praised fighters rather than mocking them.

Groves is our best SMW behind Froch.

He could beat Smith in a few fights time.

DeGale, Jeffries and Groves should at least reach world level. Smith won't go further than British.

                  I'd rank them

                  1.Groves
                  2.DeGale
                  3.Jeffries

Smith at the moment would likely beat them on experience at domestic level, but give Groves a few more fights to adjust and i see him being the pick of the bunch. The lad should bag a world title in years to come. Degale has shown great composure and hasn't really been threatened by any challenge, so i hope to see him step up soon. I've seen little of Jeffries to make much of an assumption at the moment.

                    Jeffries is a good fighter.

As an amateur he had a great jab, but seems to have neglected it in the pro game. He also looked a little embarrassed with the level of opposition he's facing, Maloney needs to step him up soon.

He can potentially be a world beater, but I think he needs a new trainer and needs to work on using the jab. Instead he tries to finish the fight early and gets caught with some ****** shots.

He does have a huge fanbase though.
