Comments Thread For: Schaefer: Khan-Maidana Depends on Marquez-Diaz Result

WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KOs), and his trainer Freddie Roach, have pushed for a fight with WBA interim belt holder Marcos Maidana (28-1, 27KOs). For the last few months, the tough Argentinian has been dealing with managerial issues. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer says Maidana is ready to return, with a "stay-sharp fight" being targeted for August. Khan returns on December 11 in either Las Vegas or England. Goldenboy needs to get their **** together.

The Marquez Diaz result should point to Katsidis.

Khan, Maidana, and Ortiz need to settle their stance at 140 among each other. The better fighters move on to Alexander and Bradley.

diaz may likely win this time around... marquez is getting older and has taken much more punishment after their first fight

Man I can't wait for all these fights to play out. Maidana-Khan is a great fight on paper because even though Khan is fast and technically skilled, he's still yet to display it against a good power-puncher like Maidana. Bradley-Alexander would be a fantastic follow-up fight n January. Put the winners and the losers against each other and you've just started what might be the first round of a light-welterweight Super Six-style tournament. I'm also excited for Marquez-Diaz just because the first fight was so good and both fighters are fight-to-the-end guys, even if they're losing badly. If Marquez wins, it'd be nice to see him get in on the light welterweight action, and maybe see Berto fight at the weight too. If it's Diaz and if the fight's good, why not see a trilogy? Boxing's going to be booming this year.

I wish Marquez would get stripped already! Katsidis deserves to be the champion here, because the champion has out and out avoided his mandatory. And this is coming from a hardcore Marquez fan.

Agree..... Khan is the problem. He needs to forget about having JMM on his resume'.
