The reason Pavlik is going to stay at middleweight is because all the good super middles would beat him. Andre Dirrell would jab him to death, Bute would box his ears off, Andre Ward would smother him and both Froch and Abraham would engage for war. Jermain Taylor remains Pavlik's biggest wins however both Froch and AA KO'd him brutally, much more brutally than Pavlik. I like Pavlik, he seems like a nice guy but I believe his time near the top of 160 lbers (or 168) is not going to last much longer...

Okay, this is my take on Pavlik and the Super Middleweight division. Anyone who does not believe that Pavlik is a limited fighter must not know much about anything and is walking through life clueless. However, his power has served him well and he has been able to accomplish a good bit with the limited skills he has. And as far as the Super Middleweight division is concerned. I for one believe the division as a whole is highly overrated. And just because they are having a Super Six tournament does not mean they have all great fighters involved. Because once you get passed Bute Ward and Dirrell the rest of the top fifteen are limited fighters much like Pavlik. And this is not my opinion because the fighters themselves, such as Kessler, Froch and Abraham, have shown just how limited they are in their last few fights. I mean come on even when they have won they have shown just how limited they are. And if Pavlik can bring his power North a few pounds he can beat any of the limited mob as well as the rest of the top fifteen such as WBO Champ Robert Stieglitz etc. Also, if Andrade and Abraham were able to hurt Dirrell and Bute I have no doubt that Pavlik can do the same. Simply because I believe that Pavlik is a much better fighter then both of them. After all Abraham fought no one at middleweight. In closing I am a realist and I realize that Pavlik is very limited but I also believe that he is a much better fighter then many of you make him out to be.Comment

Trouble making weight at 160. No big fights that he's capable of winning at 168. I'm not sure what he's got left going for him.Comment

Reliable sources have advised BoxingScene.com that former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik is seriously considering the possibility of staying at 160-pounds. I've heard Pavlik and his team have discussed the possible direction of remaining in the middleweight division. [Click Here To Read More]
the real story here is that a world class champion with a long AM career who has struggled with his weight has no nutritionist or fitness trainer in his camp and no one on his team this includes Bob Arum have stepped up to correct this problem. I had no clue Pavlik and his team was this ignorant. Get a clue.Comment

Me too
Pavlik will not have an easy time at 168....all the guys in the tournament with maybe Green being the exception can beat Pavlik. Librado Andrade is a high risk low reward fight so he won't fight him. Sakio Bika would be a good fight for Pavlik but again....high risk low reward...Comment

Well MW is definitely shallower than SMW right now. If he can't make MW, his best bet is probably a jump straight to LHW, where he might pick up a belt if he avoids Chad Dawson.Comment
