Why do people think the job of a promoter is to

    "look out for their fighters"?

Its not. They are promoters, they are there to make money.

Do party promoters look out for the safety of the attendees? No, they just want their money.

getting him fights against Judah, Mosely, Margarito, and PAC isn't good enough? there are fighters out there that would kill to get that kind of setup

Respectfully, I think making cotto fight pac at 145 and serving him up to Margarito KNOWING marg was not legit (and I know the mosley fight was later and he wasn't caught cheating during the cotto fight) in order for him to make his biggest paydays was bull****.

I believe he could've made floyd cotto back in the day. he could've given floyd the $8 mil he wanted. If miguel won or even looked good he'd be making bettr money now.

Cotto's Big ass 2 ton Manager is supposed to look out for him. Promoters are supposed to be like pimps. Drain you until your talent runs out then feed you to an up and comer. Sounds harsh but its business.

EXACTLY- very like the contracts that the Klitschkos offered Haye, and we NOW know REALLY why he turned them down at the last moment.

As for Cotto, I don't think that making sure he got a huge 8 million dollar fight against a much smaller man going up in weight, and he himself being a strong, supposedly unbeatable welterweight champion.........and unfortunately lost the fight.

I don't believe that Arum did anything other than his job, and (which he does extemely well,) good for both of them.

With that one fight alone, (never mind all the other fights) he made them both independently wealthy for life, which everybody dreams of, but few achieve.

BIG DUNN, respectfully (and i mean it) you sound infantile. The promoter has 2 fighters, each a household name, and top of their class, who agree to fight each other, MAINLY because it's a fight which would drive all the boxing afficionados crazy trying to get int to see it.

Soooooo whadda yah expect, other than a draw, one of them must win, that's the way a competitive sport works. If Cotto had trained that extra little bit, he could have easily finished the fight, maybe winning, because he has the skills to do it.

And I'm damned sure he firmly believed that he cohappened, uld, as did millions of his fans.

              What happened??? he lost.

Love him or hate him there's a reason why Top Rank has the best showcase of talent and is the leader of the promotional pack. Good match making, recognize talent, and marketing of fighters is what seperates them from the rest.

Arum, though I think is as low as the next promoter just plays like he always has a full deck of cards even if is on the losing end.

I can't believe how many people give him flack about other options for his stable elite if the Mayweather fight doesn't fall through. HE'S A PROMOTER AND THAT'S WHAT PROMOTERS DO.

If DLH, Lou Dibella, and Shaw had that stack of talent in their stable they would do the exact same thing.

                    I agree.

Arum got Cotto the biggest money fights he can get, and still does. Even got him two vacant belts against bums like Jennings and Gomez. If that's not looking out for a fighter then look at Augustus career and tell me if you rather swap places with him.
