He can't go from fighting club fighters to world class guys and have this go well for him.

Well, his trainer is Freddie Roach and Roach believes that Cotto is shot and should retire. So maybe Roach is giving Chavez confidence in being able to go up against Cotto.

Your title threw me off but just like life aint always fair or deserving neither is boxing. Sometimes boxers work there way up building a great AM career and then go onto a great Pro career. Sometimes boxers are the son of a legend, work hard and become a very popular and sellable figure in the sport. Now back to reality , If Chavez thinks he can go into the ring againt Cotto and do what he did to Duddy I think he will have a very rude and painful experience, but a very profitable one for both.
