Not at all. If he really is doing this, he deserves to see his career fall apart. Crazy that the guy was riding high a couple years ago and is now on a steady plummet. I was really hoping Williams would get his hands on him, but Pavlik's move up has killed that. He's going nowhere fast at 168 or 175 imo anyway, let alone if he really is boozing.
Does anyone else worry about Pavlik?

He definitely seems distracted. He could recover from it but it would take a huge step on his part. He would have to actually move away from Ohio, take up with a new trainer and get an injection of confidence that only that could provide. If he stays around his current people, he will not see any success at all at 168.
The wheels are broken on his current vehicle. It is time for a new one. I will be interested in seeing how he handles 168. If what they say is true, he has finally outgrown middleweight so the move up may actually be good for him. He may not have outgrown it though and struggles now due to lack of discipline. If that is the case he will fall hard and fast at 168.Comment

Kelly was drinking well before he ever faced Hopkins.
Here's an ESPN article from 4 years ago about a bar fight he was in...http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...ory?id=2285993Comment

I lost all my respect for him during the Martinez fight. I don't wish anything bad on the guy, but the dude would've quit if his trainer didn't force him to fight toward the end. I know he didn't have a cut man worth a ****, but quitting shouldn't even cross your mind when you are fighting in front of your fans like that. Look at Paul Williams. He fought Martinez being cut really bad. I don't know if it was bad as Pavlik's cuts. But he was cut pretty bad.Comment

hope everything is well with him
I thought he looked OK EARLY in the Martinez fight but in the second half of the fight when Martinez just started to turn it up offensively with his quick Combos and consistent movement, Pavlik just had NO ANSWER!Comment

It's very selfish that his trainers haven't told him to get a better trainer. they are amateur coaches, not professional. But then again, I don't think another trainer could have that much of an impact, especially at this stage in his career.dude should get over his confidence issues and find a real trainer
beating jermain taylor made team pavlik think loew would be able to keep pavlik on that higher level but hopkins took a dump on that assumption
pavlik right now is a limited fighter with a lot of power, hes only 28 so he can still change his style up
doubt he was drinking during training at the pace this guy trainsComment
