Could Antwone Smith make a case for a top 5 WW right now?

With Cotto, Marg, Clottey, and seemingly Shane moving out of the WW division, it leaves the two top guys Pac and Floyd then at a far off in the distance 3rd Berto behind.

I guess after that you could rank Jan Zaveck or Senchenko if you want at 4 or 5 because they have belts but a win over Richard Gutierrez and some good upset wins over a few unbeaten prospects >> or at least= wins over Hlatshwayo which Zaveck has and Nuzhnenko who Senchenko beat for paper titles.

Somehow Aydin is rated over Smith though he really has no wins of note other than a recent questionable decision over Jo Jo Dan while Abregu's best win is over Gutierrez who Smith beat 1st and the combined win/loss records, though I hate going by this its all I can do because they are not far enough along in the sport yet, suggest Smith fought the better comp.

What do you think with the void now at WW with some of the better fighters moving up could Antwone Smith make a case for the #5 spot at least if you give 4 to one of the trinket belt holders or someone else?

Anyone else want to weigh in, I think Smith has a future as he seems to keep improving and should be rated over some of the contenders now even.

I don't think so either. I a big fan but not sure he can dance with the top 5 yet. He must def has a future and I would like to see him amongst top contenders.

Do you think he is ready?

My dream fight for this year is Mike Jones-Antwone Smith...

          The winner gets Berto.

But, to answer the question. I don't know about top 5... But, for sure top 10 if Shane, Cotto, Clottey and Marg are done at 147.

No. Even if all the top guys in WW retire now, I doubt he can sneak in the top 15. Also, there's too many good junior welterweight fighters that will be ranked over him once they move in WW division. He needs to find a great promoter that will get him mainstream exposure and good fights.

I need to see him against some of the other contenders, I think he beats all of them and Zaveck too but don't know about Berto though he is technically a better boxer if not a better athlete.

Why would the JWW rank ahead of him as soon as they move up?

Shouldn't they have better victories than Smith to be ranked higher than him, not better wins at JWW, but at WW... You know since that is where they would be fighting
