I agree that his stance is a bit weird, and as you noted, maybe it is the way that he throws his punches that make him look so weird

what surprises me the most about Spinks is the way he bends his body a bit towards his opponent and on the side you wouldn't expect to create a target harder to hit, but such a stance should not be good for his balance, but he manages to use it very effectively nevertheless, and this is what makes it weird and awkward
