Comments Thread For: Toshiaki Nishioka-Rendall Munroe in The Works For The Fall

Teiken Promotions has announced that WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka (36-4, 23KOs) will make a mandatory defense of his title against British fighter Rendall Munroe (21-1, 9KOs). Munroe won a title eliminator in April over Victor Terrazas. The fight will take place on a date in September or October depending on television and venue availability. There are ongoing talks on whether the fight will take place in Japan or Britain.

Looks like whoever fights in his home turf will win, but now Nishioka certainly has something to overturn that jinx. Hell, he was the one who failed four times to capture the championship on Japanese soil, which somehow leads me to think otherwise. He knocked Jhonny Gonzalez silly in Mexico. Something similar can happen in Britain I guess.

Interesting fight, could turn out to be a decent little scrap.

IMO, Nishioka is the better boxer and Munroe slows down and looks a bit lost when he's not able to get inside. However, Nishioka has shown that he's willing to stand his ground and trade in the past.
