Why does winning the same title 3 times seem more prestigous than one time holder?

All these boxers brag about being "3 time champion" ala Holyfield, even Ali.

IMO holding it once throughout your entire career like Louis or Marciano is better than holding it multiple times. 4 times champion isn't something to brag about IMO.

At JCC Jr's level, it's not about belts.

because the odds are almost always against them when they try to regain that championship belt

and maybe the fact that people love a Rocky type story also plays a huge factor

but being a 4 time champion is something to brag about,

that is not something everyone can do.

It's a good point indeed. The thing is, people love comebacks. To see a champion lose his title and come back from it again and again is prestigous I guess.

overcoming a lose is a big thing..some people get mentally destroyed after a bad loss..it takes a tough minded person to comeback after a lose and regain a championship
