    Cotto @ Kronk Gym Fundraiser

    01/Jul/2010 Kronk Gym Foundation Fundraiser

    By Bob Ryder/Photos: Bob Ryder

Friends, fans, supporters, and former champs of the Kronk Gym gathered on Wednesday night for drinks, dinner, and boxing as Emanuel Steward hosted a fundraiser at downtown Detroit’s Motor City Casino. Miguel Cotto flew in at his own expense and helped raise some funds by donating a signed pair of gloves for auction. “It is a great pleasure to be here in Detroit in Emanuel’s hometown, for this important Fundraiser event of the famous Kronk gym that has help develop the talent of hundreds of kids and taking them out of the streets and teaching them the values and respect for their teammates,” said Cotto. “It’s a real honor for me to be part of the legacy and the family of the Kronk Gym.”

Kronk champions of the past Thomas Hearns, Milton McCrory, Hilmer Kenty and Jimmy Paul were all present to help keep alive the Kronk name that meant so much to their respective careers.

A short amateur card featuring Kronk fighters versus opponents from Canada and other local clubs closed out the night.

Yes, you always have to be careful. For example, if you're going to a place like Philippines---rumor is you have to watch out for chika babes who can swindle your money to provide for their dirt poor families....because they never truly fall in love except with 60+ year old guys...seems like a trend....that sort of thing. You always have to be careful.

That is cool, plus that is a good sign for Cotto's and Steward's relationship.

I wish I knew about this, I'd have gone out there. Damn. Motor City is a very nice casino and downtown Detroit is very safe and very nice, with 3 large casino's and the nicest sports venue's in the country. It's really nice down there.

That'd be cool if they did it again sometime soon.
