Comments Thread For: James DeGale: "I Am Already The Best in The UK!"

Newly-minted WBA International super-middleweight title holder James ‘Chunky’ DeGale believes that he is destined to go all the way, the 7-0 (5) prospect netted gold at the 2008 Games and is now eyeing the prestigious domestic titles. Indeed, the 24-year-old already believes that he is the best 168lb fighter in the UK, which will come as news to Paul Smith, who holds the British title, and Brian Magee, the EBU boss.

George Groves has proven more IMO and looks like he has settled into the pro ranks better than DeGale has so far.

Groves is Britains anwer at 168 when Froch is done, not Degale. Smith would be too much for him at this point....i hope Warren put's him in with Smith, but i'm sure he'd be protected for a little longer.

Brian Magee would kill him at this stage, and Smith is a tough ****. (Magee decided he didnt want to fight him and didnt give a reason. Enough said) I cant see either Groves or de Gale beating those 2 at this stage, Groves Smith would be a good fight though. Give Groves 1 or 2 more fights and he might beat him.

De Gale isnt gonna fight anyone of note for about 3 years so we may as well forget about him. His best win got stopped in 1 round last night in prizefighter.

Im still annoyed Magee pulled out of the Smith fight. Dunno what he's doing, he made a loose offer to fight the winner of prizefighter, then sort of went back on that saying the other guy needed more time. Magee is 35. If he wants to get a world tittle shot before he retires he needs to hurry up (proper world tittle, not IBO, which he had for 3 years before losing it to Reid)

He looks good but most fighters overrate themselfs and he has a ways to go before he can really prove his claim.

De Gale would beat Smith comfortably, Smith is terrible imo.

I dont rate Groves as highly as others to be honest, even though he has been fast tracked.

De Gale has more potential, he should shut his mouth till he proves it though, he acts like he is top of the P4P list yet he hasn't proved anything yet.
