Ortiz move up to WW???? He's in no way shape or form ready for the names up there.
At 140 he at least has a chance against the top guys. Vic needs to get at Maidana as soon as possible, after that he needs to fight Bradley, Alexander, and Khan. Ortiz is beyond strong enough to hang with those guys and no one at 140 with the exception of Maidana is all that physical.
At 147 there's some real physical and big guys who would do circles around Ortiz right now. Once he proves he can **** with the top guys at 140, that's the only time I'd consider moving him up. Until then, he needs to really get in the mix at 140. He needs to stay busy like he was before the Maidana loss, and he needs to keep takin steps forward, not backward.
But as of right now, he's got some disgusting defensive lapses. Always manages to get caught with his chin straight up in between his punches. Plus he doesn't even break guys down, he just head hunts. The guys at 147 would lay him out completely right now.Comment

I was just thinking the same thing. Although I don't think Harris will win, i'm glad they got him this fight. It's the least they could do after that crappy decision in his last fight.Comment

BoxingScene.com has heard rumblings from a reliable source that a fight between junior welterweight prospect Victor Ortiz and former world champion Vivian Harris is being discussed as a strong possibility to be on the pay-per-view undercard of Shane Mosley versus Sergio Mora. Harris isn't set in stone but he is on Golden Boy's short list of possible opponents. [Click Here To Read More]....

He's not the one picking his fights. GBP is. I doubt they're going to put him in with any big names before they finish building him back up. He's not even really targetted by them anymore. Everyone's replaced him with Maidana on their radar. He needs to fight him again in order to be considered a top level JWW.Comment

I'm a Maidana fan, but skill wise Ortiz is better. Actually, I think Ortiz can still be the #1 Jww and take out Bradley, khan, and possibly Alexander.
People seem to have gotten the Cotto effect with him, writing him off after a single bad performance (which wasn't bad at all until he lost his composure and started trading.)
victor has great power, speed, footwork, accuracy, etc. He lost a tough one, but is still the top jww IMOComment
