How about Vitali Klitschko, Ray Mercer, David Tua? These guys are better than anyone Wlad has faced at the time Lewis faced them. Wlad fought Mercer in 2002, Lewis fought him in 1996. Lewis fought a very dangerous David Tua and outclased him when he was in his prime, Tua had only lost to Ike in a very close fight prior to that and had a string of good victories.

I dont need to say anything about Vitali, everyone knows it. When its all said and done Vitali is going to hall of fame, he is still fighting..
Tyson was not even close to prime against Holy. Holy fought Lennox in 99 and was out of his prime as well. Mercer and Tua are not HoFer's or great heavyweights. The Vitali fight? Are you serious? Lennox was losing and won on a cut. I refuse to argue the merits of that "win".

You tried to spin it, but you know the truth.

He's had some lows and lost some fights but the last 5 years or so he's been amazing and deserves credit.
As far as I know Chagaev is a good southpaw, but would you rank him up there with Corrie Sanders? I watched the Meehan bout and I didnt see anything special. Where am I going wrong with this guy?

If Holyfield at 37 was past prime then its not crazy to say Lennox(37) was past prime when he fought Vitali. Vitali is an atg and it is Lewis's best win because of the enormous age gap in Vitali's favor.

Wladimirs career is not done, so he still has a chance to get on Lewis/Vitali's level. He will have to go for quantity though, because the quality is just not there.

On Corrie's best day I think he was better than Chagaev, yes. Ruslan isn't special, he does many things well, has good skills and good power and a very good chin. He matched up terribly with Wlad, but over the course of history there are many heavyweights considered "great" that I think would have struggled to defeat Ruslan.

The Holy win was very good for Lennox, maybe a great win depending on your opinion on where Holy was at the time. My point wasn't to denigrate Lennox but to merely point out that Wlad's ledger isn't all that much worse than many of the other long time rulers of the division. Again, the merits of Lennox "win" over Vitali is not a debate I want to get into again.

I think Haye is the fight to solidify Wlad's status as a legendary heavyweight, not only because I think Haye is an excellent fighter but because on paper Haye is Wlad's worst style matchup.

Sam peter is not good at all technically, but he is head and shoulders above all the bums Wlad has faced in the past 5 years. People say that Wlad is getting better, but when you are facing 208 lb midgets its not hard to look dominant.
