David Lemieux to fight in a WBC eliminator on August 28th

According to his promoter in Montreal, David Lemieux will fight in a WBC eliminator on August 28th.

Lemieux has moved into the top 10 in the new WBC rankings. Several of the top fighters currently ranked by the WBC are not available because of fighting for other middleweight titles.

His opponent may be Marco Antonio Rubio, Matthew Macklin, or David Lopez. Rubio would not be too difficult, Macklin however would be very dangerous.

I'll provide updates when I know more.

I like any of those fights for Lemieux. If MW was a tougher division I'd say he needs more seasoning, but no one is really scary up there but serg IMO. I say get to it and try and get a belt. There's plenty of prospects that will be hot over the next two years. Get a belt now if you can.

Lopez would be tight too. His nickname should be "Prospect Buster".

I sure hope its on TV, ESPN would be great again. Martinez vs Lemieux would be tight. I know he is working his way up on the WBC rankings but he is way too young age and career wise for Martinez.

So Martinez is the champ, Zbik the interim champ, Chavez Jr is the Silver champ and now Lemieux is fighting an eliminator, for what?

              Am I getting mixed up?

I'd like to see Lemieux in with Chavez Jr.

That is actually who Jr. should be fighting at this point, other solid MW title contenders like he supposedly is now.

Though I doubt he fights the very heavy handed Lemieux, I would be very surprised and impressed if he did.
