World Series Boxing.... Can someone please explain???

Can someone please explain what the World Series of Boxing is all about. Im trying to grasp what it is and find myself getting more and more confused.

I understand that it is amateur boxers from national teams compete
    without headgear or vests,
    for more rounds,
with a new revised scoring system (10-9 system i think)
    whilst getting paid.

Sounds like professional boxing to me!

    Sounds easy enough to understand.

    From the AIBA website:

The WSB will be annually held and allow aspiring boxers to compete professionally without having to sacrifice their dreams of competing on behalf of their countries at the Olympic Games. AIBA will provide a bridge between Olympic boxing and Professional boxing, with the WSB being the only professional series in which boxers will retain their Olympic eligibility.

Do you not think that is just name given to a new seperate governing body in already overcrowded world of professional boxing? Repackaged,

I have to say i find it a bit ridiculous that amateurs are essentially being allowed to fight "PROFESSIONALLY" and at the same time fight amateur.
Competing in 2 different sports.... if the AIBA is going down this route then why not let them fight in the real "Professional" boxing and the olympics at the same time.
      Mad Idea i think

Honestly, I don't get it. The more I read about it, the more questions I have.

The reason for WSB is to try and stop the hemorrhaging of talent to the pro-ranks.

I think it is a VERY bad idea. We are going to end up with young talented fighters fighting each other 10 times a year, and taking more punishment than they should.

We will end up with all of our young talent already having significant mileage on the odometer by the time they turn pro.

Naw, thats a waist of time because our best fighters would never compete in that.
