Tapia vs. Vasquez is off

After a stop-and-go month, and a change of promoters and venue, it's been confirmed that the July 29th IBF Super Bantamweight World Title fight between champ Israel Vazquez and former five-time titlist Johnny Tapia is just not going to happen. According to Frank Espinosa, Vazquez's manager, the fight fell through after negotiations concerning options and money failed. The fight was to happen at UNM's the Pit in Albuquerque, televised by ESPN2 and promoted by Sycuan Promotions and Guy Riordan, LLC. Espinosa says Vazquez may have another fight going before his mandatory defense in September.

Johnny is one of my favorite fighters, it's a damn shame this fell through.........eventhough I really didn't think he was going to win.
