That is shocking. That brutal fight probably took a lot from both of them.

I wonder how tough the recovery process was in the days after it. I remember Corrales saying the first Castillo fight that he hadn't watched the fight after about a week or so because he was so loopy and high on painkillers. He also couldn't even bathe himself.

I'm in awe of how many shots Saad unloaded on Johnson in the last minute of the rematch. He was so exhausted he could barely celebrate.

Its always shocking to me that Saad didn't punch himself out. A lot of power shots without letting up. 2500 is shocking and criminal. That fight along with their first was brutal.

Marvin Johnson was a good fighter too, I really liked his left uppercut.

Unfortunately for him he was around in a great LHW era and usually fell short in the biggest fights.

The Ring still ranked him in their top 20 LHWs all-time in the early 2000s.

Funny to watch this fight again. Both fighters must have had an awesome time in that fight. Neither had any defense so both of them could throw just about any combination they had worked on in training, and see it land perfectly...

I've heard that Saad and his contemporaries was paid peanuts for their fights on CBS or whatever, but I didn't no it was only 2.5K. That's outrageous!

Very true. I think Johnson's best win was over Victor Galindez.Johnson did a number on him .
