Im curious, because he previously was a featherfist whose only first round knockout was against a guy who weighed 177 lbs. And his only ko in 2 rounds was against a guy who weighed 181 lbs. Liston mind you was only KO'ed one other time in his career and that was years later in the 9th round of a brutal fight. So a guy who never knocked anyone over 182 lbs out in the first round was somehow able to knock a 215 pounder out who had never before been KO'ed, with one punch? That dont make no sense. We all know Dundee was known for cheating, ripping gloves, using smelling salts and other illegal substances, what are the chances Ali was wearing brass knuckles under his gloves? Did anyone check? The first Liston fight was a draw until Liston hurt his shoulder and retired, the second one, Im assuming Ali had to have some illegal wraps or something. Neither fight do I believe Ali deserves credit for.

Fight was fixed, the fight was actually supposed to happen 6 months earlier and Liston trained hard for then, when it was supposed to happen.
When it got delayed Liston's heart kind of went away, he didn't want to train.
There are rumors that ******s or someone else paid him off, loose or die probably, couldn't have one of their forehead figure in Ali loosing while he's at the top of his popularity as being a ******.
I think Ali would of won because of the lack of training Liston did during the 6month delay, imo, plus Liston's stalking doesn't work all that well against Ali's dancing.Comment

Uhh..theres a difference between cuts and knocking a guy out cold. Only 4 times prior to Liston did Ali knock anyone out. And only 4 times after did he knock anyone out. Half of his KO's came against guys weighing under 190 lbs...Wow, he was able to knock out 180 lbs over the hill Bob Foster out in 8 rounds when he weighed 41 lbs more than him...good job Ali...Also Liston didnt walk into that punch, it was weak as hell. If that KO'ed Liston then Liston was the worst HW champ of all time.Comment

I don't think so. I mean Ali is a disgusting racist and one of the dirtiest fighters ("Dirty Clay") but I don't think that he is a cheater like that.
One of the following is more likely
- Liston threw the fights because of his mob connections (mafia bets!) or Ali's ********* ****** friends (who managed to kill Malcolm X between the FIRST and the SECOND fight). Ali even threatened Liston the day before the first fight: "After the fight I'm gonna [...] use him as a bearskin rug". Liston quit citing a shoulder injury in the first fight and because of the "phantom punch" in the second fight. Sounds like throwing a fight to me.
- Ali landed a lucky punch, Ali had many lucky fights.
- Liston was a bum-beater. More accurately: A beater of FEATHERFISTED opponents (opponents' median KOratio: 29%) thus it's not unlikely that he simply got surprised

That's what I was proving though. The only rumor I heard or read about was that the punch didn't connect. I know the TS was asking about loaded gloves but I've never heard that rumor. Just showing him vids on the wide specualtion the punch didn't connect or connect hard. Don't know about loaded gloves though.. I've never heard anything about it.Comment
