Victor Ortiz vs Jac Zaveck at 147

Who would take it and why? I think Ortiz would fight at 145 comfortably and win by KO/TKO

This is a good confidence builder for Ortiz to win a title

Been a while since I've seen you post. I agree, Ortiz would win by TKO. He's a pretty big JWW and didn't look bad in his tuneups at 144, so I think he could pull it off. In fact, I think he should move up to 147. Unless he fights Maidana again, I don't think any of the JWWs will be interested in fighting him aside from Khan, but GBP wouldn't let that happen. He could definitely make a statement at 147. Who knows, maybe we'll see him and Bradley unify some day since he's also moving up to 147.

            Zaveck would win.

Ortiz hasn't fought 147 before. Hasn't really displayed anything that can prove to me that he would handle 147lb guys. If Maidana put a hurting on him, what would bigger guys do? 147 guys hit harder than 140 guys.

Go watch Zaveck fight and tell me he isn't a puncher. We all know how Ortiz reacts when he gets hit hard.

Zaveck may be lesser known, doesn't mean he will lose to Ortiz.

Victor still hasn't recovered at 140 yet. I don't see anything benefical in him moving up right now.

                  1. He has fought at 147 before. It was at a catchweight, but its not like he would come in at the weight limit anyways. He's also a big JWW.

                  2. Maidana punches like a JMW. He definitely hits harder than Zaveck. People are overrating his KO over Hlatschwayo. His best days were at 135. Sure he did squeak by Delvin Rodriguez, but he did the chicken dance in the process and that fight could have went either way.

                  3. Ortiz fought very recklessly against Maidana. As you've seen in his last three fights, he's focused more on boxing instead of slugging. He wouldn't run into those huge shots anymore.

Zaveck is actually a bad match up for ortiz because zaveck puts on a lot of pressure and has a very high work rate.
