Al BERNSTEIN says Mayweather-Pacquiao fight a possibility.

MODERATOR EDIT: Unfortunately the title of the link is wrong, it says the fight is TO HAPPEN, but the article says POSSIBILITY. Nothing new, he knows no more than anyone else does.

    Thread title edited as such.

    @ Braddman,

Just FYI: I reflected the original article accurately with no edits of my own.

Accordig to Al's quotes, sounds like he was asked how a proposed fight could turn out and what each fighter has to do to win. Doesn't sound like he is quoted sayin anything concrete in regards to the fight happening.

Agreed, very misleading and fixed. We really don't need Al Bernstien telling us this fight is possible, I think we knew.

BOXING commentator Al Bernstein said there is a strong possibility the proposed fight between Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao and American unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going to be made. Bernstein told eatthemushroom.com on Saturday the bout is very interesting for many boxing fans.

“Well I think it’s an interesting fight,” he said. “I think we’re really going to find out in the first five rounds of that fight because Pacquiao is going to get hit with some kind of impressive right hand by Mayweather.”

The veteran boxing commentator said Pacquiao would have a hard time beating Mayweather (41-0 with 25 knockouts).

“Mayweather is going to do that and Mayweather’s a good puncher, a sharp puncher, and might be physically a little bigger than Pacquiao or at least has been at higher weights more often,” he said.

Bernstein, though, said the bout remains in question. “I think we’re going to know when Mayweather lands one of those right hands lands—did it hurt Pacquiao? Did it knock him down? Did it get him in trouble? Does it lead to more of an onslaught?”

Pacquiao, he said, could also pull-off an upset against Mayweather because of his very fast hands.

“If Pacquiao hits Mayweather with one of those right hands and he’s able to shake it off and continue with his onslaught of 70 or 80 or 90 punches around, I think that’s where Pacquiao certainly has a chance to win the fight,” said Bernstein.
