Could We Actually See a Old Style #4# Fight?

Is it really possible? Here is what I mean by old style. We have had some big time argubally pound for pound fights but pretty much all of them were the same weight. We havent even had one of them in a while that we knew of before the fight. We could have one soon if Hopkins wins and fights Winky who alot of people now have in the top 4 and some at 2.

But Im talking about old style and Im talking about Mayweather. Floyd has been moving up fast. He was at 130 his whole career and had just 4 fights at 135 and now just 3 fights at 140 and he will probally have his next fight at 147. A few years ago alot of people said that he was basically a natural light weight and maybe it's true because I actually think he still belongs at 135 now because of how easy it is for him to make weight but his skills are so great it allows him to move up for bigger fights.

Since alot thought he was a natural lightweight most said that he would really struggle at 140 and probally couldnt make it to 147 and be competitve unless he was well into his 30's and finishing his career. Since then alot of people have changed there mind. Now alot of them say he is the best at 140 and they would favor him against anyone at 147. There has been alot of talk about him fighting Margarito next.

My question is and what I meant by this topic is that what if Floyd beats Margarito convincingly? Do you know what people will say? They will say could Floyd actually move up to 154 and fight Winky or even better yet Bernard Hopkins. 154 is where Winky was his whole career and that would be a exciting skillful fight but the fight with Hopkins would be legendary. This is what I meant about old style. A guy who is clearly smaller but moved up very quickly and is fighting the other #4# best guy who has been up there in weight his whole life. X can make 154 very easily. Could Floyd actually do it or is 154 just to much for him? We will have to watch and find out

I think Floyd would do better vs Hopkins than DLH did based on styles...Floyd is well conditioned and doesn't depend on size and power to win fights...even with him moving up with the extra weight, he would still be a bit faster...but I don't think he would carry that much very well...and I don't see Hopkins sticking around that long...maybe Morales, MAB, and Pacman may move up to 140 in the future?

I dont want to look into the future that much. I wanna see Floyd stop Hatton, Cotto and any other 140 pounder in his way and then move up to 147. 154 .. lookin to far ahead.

I wish I could agree with you but those fights are not happening any time soon and Floyd's next fight will be at 147 against either Margarito or Mosley. Arum doesnt want to put Cotto in with Floyd this early because he doesnt think he's ready and it is much to soon from a business stand point. You want Cotto to build his name some more so it could be a huge PPV fight. Hatton and his mangament also dont sound like there to thrilled to face him yet. I keep hearing them say 12 to 18 months. Warren wont risk it after a big Tszyu win and it will be extremly hard for the 2 networks to get together.

I cant see Pac and MAB doing that any time soon and probally not ever. I dont even think Morales will go there but he has talked about Floyd alot and it wouldnt be too surprising to see him tell Floyd to meet him at 135 but I doubt it

Maybe I'm wrong, but I really don't think Floyd is done at 140 yet. You might be right that Arum may hold Mayweather and Cotto apart for now, but Floyd vs. Hatton is possible. Also Floyd vs. the winner of the Corrales/Castillo fight would be possible at 140. Corrales has already shown interest in eventual fights at 140 and Castillo has had 2 fights at 147 and knocked both guys out.

If Corrales wins again, I think it'd be very possible to see Floyd fight him in a rematch. It'd be a fairly big money fight, as both Corrales' and Mayweathers' stocks will have risen significantly.

I don't really have any desire to see Mayweather embarrass Corrales again. Been there, done that, move on PBF.

Morales is already pretty much set on going to 135. We'll have to see how he does there. Yeah I agree that I don't think he'll go up to 140, at least not until Mayweather's probably moved on up and 140 is a different division than it is now.

If Pac chases Morales up to 135, I think Morales would knock him out late in the rematch. Pac needs to stay 130 and below. He's got too small of a frame and he needs to accept that.

I think there are too many littile barriers in the way for the Hatton fight to happened, and then you add to that I dont think Hatton or Warren wants it any time soon anyway. As for Chico, I read a article the other day that I agreed with and they were talking about how Chico might would want the fight to see if it was a fluke the first time but he is mangaed by James Prince who was managing Floyd in the 1st fight and he knows that it wasnt a fluke so I doubt if you will ever see that fight again or atleast no time soon

DLT's made some good points because the thing is that in the last couple of years the only reason big name fighters have taken on Mayweather is because they have thought that their size advntage over him would make the difference. Before both Corrales and Gatti all people talked about with the size and supposed power differences, and both times Mayweather made them look like fools. Once he's established himself at a certain class he has to move on up because nobody else will take him on. I'm sure when/if a Margarito or Mosley fight is scheduled we'll hear the old arguments about the size advantage.
