Have there been no proven elite MWs in years?

Sergio is an elite fighter but is really a SWW and we can't say for sure how he would perform against a full sized MW with ability, skills, and a championship mentality. The fact that Sergio is our MW champion though good and sexy, to me speaks to the rubbishness of Pavlik who was much bigger and so clearly beaten by him.

That brings us to Pavlik who though 1 dimensional beat Taylor with his physicality by exposing his lack of killer instinct and stamina issues.

This while Taylor(prime) was barely just good enough to sc**** by a 40 yr old Hopkins twice who would have most likely broken Taylor down exposing his stamina flaws in his younger days.

So my question is; have there been no really proven elite MWs since Hopkins just got old and became vulnerable to faster fighters, or fighters who keep a faster pace?

If Felix Sturm stops fighting tomato cans in his backyard and unifies with Sergio, we'll know for sure if Sergio is a hype job or not.

Let me get this straight, Martinez get's robbed of a victory from Kermit "The skydiver" Cintron, Convincingly beats Pavlik and makes the so called most feared man in P. Williams look less then ordinary and you are using Felix Sturm as a measuring stick to determine if Sergio is all hype?

You seem like a hard fan to please.

Narrowing down the options as your question does the answer is simple...no.

I'd say Pavlik was elite prior to his ******ation at the hands of Hopkins. Which by proxy confirms Martinez as a legit middleweight in my eyes at least. I suppose it depends what constitutes 'elite' though.

There is definitely an impressive lineup of young, upcoming fighters in the MW division. Better than in any other, IMO.

I never thought Pavlik was very good at all.

They are plenty of 160 Pounders coming up the ranks...

                    Guerrerro
                    Korobov
                    Jacobs
                    Pirog
                    N'jikam

160 will be pretty good soon.

When the best two 160 Pounders (Martinez and Paul) are really natural JMW's it shows the division is ****.
