I think Roach is 0-10 on his knock predictions. He needs to shut the **** up already.

Roach knows what he is talking about 60% of the time. I like his odds of being right. Neither dude is all that impressive, but I think Duddy has gotten as good as he is going to get. Chavez can still get better. Duddy is over 30. I think 31 while Chavez is 24. I like Chavez to win. Don't know how, but he will take it.Comment

OK interesting post.....that is nnot true at all. I live in mexico, people like him over here, lets remember that hhe was on the publics eyes since he was a kid, so people know him very well, and just the fact that he is the son of chavez, people tend to like him for that fact annd thhey do like him because he makes tremendous rating for tv azteca, he is very popular. in the other hand you hhave televisa the othher giant cable company who began to tell people that chavez only fought bums (which he did) and creating an anti chavez jr trend to favor their promising star Canelo Alvares, i put it like this they promoted Canelo´s fight with jose cotto here in mexico like if cotto was indeed Miguel Cotto. seriously and they talk bad about chavez´carrer.. so there you have the truth.
But People do like chavez jr a lot, at least the majority of people, see is like a part of them cuz the people saw hhimm grow. but there is another section that dont like him, is like everything in life.
So it sounds like Chavez Jnr is viewed in Mexico a little bit like Amir Khan is viewed in the UK..... ?
Most like him, because they have seen him grow up and they appreciate his talent..... but some dont like him, whether its because of bad press, or doubt over the validity of his achievements.
And yet both guys are still very young in terms of development.
NOTE TO FELLOW BOXING FANS : Please give our young guys a chance.
Don't pick the flowers in your garden before they have had a chance to bloom. Your garden will look much nicer full of colorful flowers instead of just stalks
A good read MB, thanks for taking the time to write.Comment

Good points.duddy is a walking punching bag....roach sets up good game plans all the time, its all kinda leaning towards chavez side. may seem unexpected but when you think about it...duddy isnt really that good of a fighter, theres talks hes having trouble making weight. smells like a knockout.
It's funny..... think how much Freddie could improve Duddy?
And no way is Duddy too far "set in his ways" because of his punch-happy style or his warrior approach. If Roach is making improvements to Chavez when he's already had 40 pro fights, then he could improve Duddy.
Just a slight mental adjustment in the way that he approach's a fight, would make a huge difference to Duddy's game, and there are a number of little things that you can do to significantly improve your defence.
I am not suggesting for one second that you could, or should, change Duddy..... or that he could be an ATG or anything..... just that he would be more effective if he fought more intelligently.
A good trainer would never try to change a lot in a short space of time, and definitely not change a fighters style too much..... just polish what you've got, and add what you can.
Duddy doesn't shuffle and reset, or clinch when he should, or take advantage of his strengths. Take the Medina fight for example.... he still had only one range, and only one approach. Medina actually out-duddy'd Duddy.
IMO Freddie would make huge improvements to Duddy, because there are huge improvements that could be made, and most of them are basic and could be done quite easily.Comment

Actually, you are wrong..... you can polish a turd.
You never used to be able to, but now you can.
There are many examples in life where people hold positions that they cannot justify, or when the public were "sold" an idea that did not turn out as promised..... or when a bill was passed through senate for reasons "other" than the ones that were given at the time..... or where a fighter used inserts and "plaster like" substances.
I wonder which turd will float to the surface?

I'm not so sure about that.....No one expected clottey to HIDE in his shell for almost the entire fight. Dude was scared of getting ko'd. He said himself, he wanted to prove freddie wrong and not get knocked out. Who goes into a fight thinking, "i'm going to prove freddie wrong and not get knocked out".. You best believe clottey felt mannys speed/power, reason why he was hiding in his shell.
YOU COULD BE RIGHT..... and I could just be ****-stirring when I say this.....
But.....
Clottey has very little in the way of ring generalship, but what he does have is a fighters mind-set. There are two things that Joshua Clottey knows a lot about....
* can I hit him?
* if I do, can I hurt him?
Well..... I watched Clottey connect with a two punch combo in round 2, which IMMEDIATELY made Manny BACK THE **** UP with HUGE respect for Clottey's power..... only to see Clottey apparently unaware of the fact.
Then I watched Clottey connect with a punch almost EVERYTIME he opened up..... and when he did, they were the only times during the fight when Manny stopped punching him in the face..... only for Clottey to be apparently unaware of the fact.
BUT..... when I saw, in round 6 I think it was, where Clottey had Manny backed up on the ropes, covering up, obviously feeling the effects of a rare successful assault..... only to watch Clottey back up to the middle of the ring and reset to wait for Manny.....
..... it looked like those two guys had sparred together quite a bit.
If I was being cynical, which happens from time-to-time
I could even imagine that maybe good ol' Uncle Bob phoned Clottey, told him that " he was done after losing to Cotto, and that he would not be able to get him anymore fights..... so **** off.....
..... UNLESS..... you would like $2 mil to take a Pac fight as well as a promise of more fights in the future.....
..... OH, but BTW Josh..... you don't get to hurt Manny "
Maybe I am just ****-stirring..... but, either way..... Clottey's a joke now.
EDIT :
Actually, I'm not just ****-stirring.....
I know boxing, and I know the instincts that develop in fighters.
Clottey did not have a fighters instinct during that bout.
Something stinks about that fight..... and it wasn't just Clottey.Comment

Clottey is with Top Rank. He was paid by Bob to make Manny look good. LeadUppercut, I'm with you, I think that fight was fixed. I know plenty of people who believes this.Comment
