I think he resisted too many rounds (11) to R. Hatton who did rabbit punches, plus the swarming tactics of Hatton prevented Kostya T. from unloading, and laying on a fighter takes a lot out of him.
Also, Hatton throws hundreds of punches more than his adversaries every fight, both to the body and head.
Kostya T. fought 9 rounds in 3 years, some fighters do 20-50 rounds per year.
Also, Kostya T. style needs to find a moment to throw a powerful right hand, that couldn't be used with the fast rhythm Hatton did. However he actually won some rounds.
All the above without mentioning another three factors: his age, the crowd and the fact he didn't train at 2AM.
The fight was relatively close on judges scorecards.
You rightly give Zoo credit for lasting 11 rounds, but he fought a ****** fight. Meaning he fought Hatton's fight, which is exactly how Ricky plans to keep winning, by imposing his style on his opponents. I think Zoo believed he could take Hatton out with one big right hand, but he didn't land it flush all night. This is not the end of the world, except that Zoo also didn't give Hatton any movement, he just let Hatton move/lunge/rush forward and close the distance, without offering anything to keep the fight outside.

He was ahead in one card no? I believe the fight was still in reach for him.
