Mentally he may have been out of it since he had just been caught trying to load his gloves. There were reports by Doug Fischer that Margarito looked terrible in training camp. There's always the possibility that the wear-and-tear of a long career and a punishing style caught up to Margarito.

And of course, Mosley fights a different style than Cotto.

Mosley got physical with him, actually sat on his punches (Where as Cotto was on the backfoot). Notice how everytime Cotto landed something big Margarito would smile? Because of that, Cotto was fooled into thinking he couldn't hurt Margarito. Margarito tried to pull the same stunt against Mosley; didn't work. Or maybe that had more to do with the body shots Mosley landed in the 1st round, where Margarito was noticeably hurt by them.

Ya i think the fact that there were rumours Margarito was suppose to be getting beat up in sparring against poor enough opposition maybe point to wear and tear like in his last two fights he faced huge punchers in Cintron and Cotto add in a few wars hes been in and it all adds to a fighter whos prime was beaten out of him

No plaster plus the punishment that he took from the Cotto fight.

                Very bad analogy...

The difference is in the fighter. It's funny to me how people still make excuses for Cotto vs Marg or Cotto vs Pacman. Cotto and Mosley are NOT the same fighter. Mosley past his prime is still a better fighter than Cotto, I'm sorry but it's true.

Cotto could not hurt Marg, Mosley is a much harder puncher and faster even at that age.

Also the biggest difference is that Mosley (unlike Cotto) can fight going backwards. Look at the recent Foreman fight with Cotto, the only time Foreman was having any success was when he was pushing Cotto back.

Cotto is used to being the bully, he's used to pushing forward, setting up with his jab and then working the body on the inside and finishing with the left hook/right hand. That's what Cotto does.

Margarito didn't allow him to come forward and the little times Cotto tried, he was punished with upper cuts and that caused Cotto to not be able to go to the body as much as everyone wanted him to.

Margarito is just a very bad style match up for Cotto. If Marg is anywhere near the fighter he was, he beats Cotto again. He will push forward, Cotto will dance and box and eventually will be worn down and KO'd by Marg all over again.

People talk about the wraps but Marg must have wrapped his chin as well because he was absorbing Cotto's shots like they were nothing. He was hurt vs Mosley, he was never hurt vs Cotto.

You cant really say that Mosley is the better fighter even now, because Cotto already beat him once in what i thought was a close, but clear decision.

It is true though that Cotto doesnt fight well on the back foot, but maybe Emmanuel Stewart can fix that. If not he is in a bad place at 154. Margartio, Clottey and Pacquiao had success pushing him back at 147.

You have to admit that Mosley fought a ****** fight vs Cotto. He stood toe to toe with him and fought right into Cotto's hands and still almost won. It was a very close fight, he took all of Cotto's shots with ease. Had he been smart and boxed, I think he would have won that fight.

It's very hard for a trainer to come in with a fighter at the stage that Cotto is in and fundamentally change what he's doing. When push comes to shove, Cotto will do what he does best and that is come forward, if he's bullied he will revert to what we saw with Pac and Margarito.

He was pushed back against Marg, Pac and Clottey at 147 but remember, Marg is a natural 154 lber and people were complaining about the size difference when Cotto and Marg fought the first time.

Marg is stronger at 154 and it's a much better weight for him at this stage of his career. Cotto is not a big 154 lber compared to others in that division. Like I said, unless Marg is shot and not the same fighter, I don't see a different outcome.

It's just not a good style match up for Cotto and if I was his handlers I would steer clear of Margarito.
