If I call you the N-word and told you to go back to the cotton fields, then yes that's racist, no misinterpretation there.
If I call you a monkey for acting dumb and ******, that doesn't mean I'm comparing you to a monkey because you are black.
If we take every single comment beyond face value, we'll end up offending every single race out there, not just blacks...

There are as many obnoxious Mayweather fans as there as Pacquiao fans. I've seen numerous racial remarks by Mayweather fans here as I have seen with Pacquiao fans.

If I told you, you were a rice eater in a negative way and you were Asian, the connotation changes, does it not?
If I said George W. Bush looked like a monkey, I'd probably get laughs from a lot of people, since George Bush monkey face pictures were in circulation right?
If I said ***** looked like a monkey, the connotation changes, does it not?
Sorry, but you can't tell people to take thing's at face value if a word or meaning has historical connotations behind why it is used.
We do not live in a world where thing's aren't taken past face value. If that were the case then you could say to a Black person "Stop behaving like a monkey" and expect no negative reaction back at all.Last edited by Biolink; 06-23-2010, 03:47 PM.

hasn't the term monkey been used as a negative slur towards Black Americans?
also no one answered this so maybe you can
hasn't the term "fried chicken eating" also been used as a slur towards Black Americans?
because while YOU may not find anything wrong with it history has shown that these two images have been used countless times to slur Black Americans or am I lying?
so given that could you now maybe see why the picture of Floyd on a bucket of chicken or the term monkey could be construed as a slur towards blacks?

Are you seriously trying to play that card?
That applies to only a genuine minority of cases.
When the "monkey" comments are attached to derogatory descriptions of African features, as is often the case, what benefit of the doubt is there?
