According to this comparison, Dirrell beats Ward

For some reason Andre Ward reminds me a lot of young Bernard Hopkins with that smothering and frustrating inside work. They both are also pretty good on the outside too and light on their feet. Anybody else see this comparison?

If this is true and they are a like, Andre Dirrell MUST beat Ward! Because it has been proven over time the fighters that give Hopkins the most trouble are faster guys that beat Hopkins to the punch and get off first. Dirrell even said in an interview that he needs to get off first to beat Ward and that's how he knew after the 4th round Green was done. Taylor gave Hopkins trouble twice because he was faster and beat Hopkins to the punch with the jab. Hopkins had a hard time answering it.(Didn't say win twice because I thought Hopkins won the 1st fight) But also Roy Jones beat him to the punch all night long in the first fight, Hopkins had a hard time even touching him. Calzaghe beat him too because he was old and had that fast work rate that kept Hopkins holding and on the defensive at all times.

I feel like if Dirrell uses that speed and uses the jab similar to what Jermain Taylor did to Hopkins, then he could outpoint Ward too. Can't wait for this freakin fight though! Hopefully it's like the first Hopkins-Taylor fight too because that fight was pretty sweet to watch!

ward has a lot more athletic ability than bhop. ward is a lot faster. not sure if dirrell is so fast that ward can't catch up to him to hold-n-hit.

Yeah that was my main thing too. Ward's a little faster so I don't think speed will be that much of a weakness for him. Was just thinking though especially because of what Dirrell said. If Dirrell won a decision with the jab I wouldn't be surprised.

Check out the oakland ring, its tiny Dirrell needs a lot of room to work
