WELL I GUESS WE ALL KNOW WHY.1 is black 1 is white simple as that unfortunate look at the cotto fight no 1 post fight interview post press no 1 was mentioning him STEWARD or giving him credit they simply ignore him when 1 of roach's fighters wins they are all over him post fight and post press giving him more credit then the fighter?it seems boxing fans and media are all crazy for freddie roach wich he is a good trainer but in my view he is not better than steward.where the hell was roach before pacquiao came up in mid 2000's.Just go and take a look at their wikiopidia.steward far better stradegy and he gives fighters alot of confidence in the corner.manny stweard was compeating against the all time great trainer dundde when roach was a bum fighter how many losses did he got like 13?specially when i hear alot of people saying roach is the greatest trainer of this ERA??I think nacho beristain and emmanuel are better than roach.both far more expierence more stradegy for their fighters if steward is underrated nacho is even more
emanuel steward underRated.Roach a little over rated

Stewards Heavyweight resume' is frocking ridiculous
-1993 He trains Holyfield and hands Rid**** Bowe his first and only proffesional loss.
-1994 He trains Oliver Mccall to beat Lewis
-1997 He trains Lewis to beat Oliver Mccall
-2003 He trains Lewis to beat Klitschko
-2005 He trains Klitschko to be #1 Heavyweight in the world
1997-2010 he's had the Heavyweight champ in his stable.
I think Steward is better than Roach, and only second to the Great Angelo Dundee. -
you forgot to mention the chavez in 1994 after loosing his first fight and everyoen thought he was over he hired steward to ko taylro in the rematch of 1994.the cotto fight was tremendous job what was everyone saying about cotto before the fight.cotto didnt show a single sign of beatings or washed up balance and foot movment reapeard in cotto.Comment

I think Roach is extremely overrated. He get's the "trainer of the year" award almost every year but I think his match-making abilities make him seem like a much better trainer than he really is. For example, Before the Marquez-Pacquiao rematch he said stuff like "Manny only had one hand back then" and "We have a great gameplan to beat Marquez this time". But what happened differently? Nothing at all, Marquez was still able to counter Pacquiao at will and make him look like an amatuer at times. Roach claimed Pacquiao was "new and improved" but he still got outboxed, outpunched and outsmarted by Marquez for the majority of the fight. Only to escape with an extremely controversial win.
I have more respect for Emanuel Steward because he took fighters who were at their worst and brought them to their best. Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko are fine examples of this.Last edited by JK1700; 06-22-2010, 01:12 PM.Comment

Steward is better than Roach IMO and he knows how to put a great strategy together. Compare Cotto in the Clottey and Pacquiao fights to the Foreman fight and you will see lots of improvements and Cotto looks like a guy on the up insted of a guy on the downside.Comment

steward has great resume the problem is he really doesn't train many people lately other than klitschko and now cotto (1 fight).
He wasn't getting much props when Kermit Cintron was getting KO'd and some of his other fighters were losing.
The main thing with steward is that he doesn't really coach someone from the start to the end anymore, he trains guys that already are stars.
Whereas roach trains anybody and everbody no matter if they are just starting their pro careers or are at the tail end.
That's the big difference.Comment
