If so you should back off that dissappointment...Juan Diaz is still a baby and just because he has a paper championship which is what it is that does not mean he has to fight the best yet.
The kid if put in with the wrong people at 135 will take a terrible possibly careeer ending beating...he is still way too young and probably snaged his title belt to soon for his own good...he still has a long way to go and fighting a few bums now should not dissapoint anyone.
He has too look at guys like Reid and Vargas...and then proceed with caution-he is a belt holder but far from a real world champion...keep that in mind!

Q&A: Ebo Elder!

Lightweight contender Ebo "The X-treme Machine" Elder was scheduled to get a title shot against WBA lightweight champ Juan Diaz last April. However, Diaz pulled out due to a reported cut he suffered in training leaving Elder out in the cold. No rematch was scheduled, but since then, Elder (22-1, 14 KOs) has continued to train. Last week the WBA mandated a lightweight world title-elimination bout between Elder and #1 contender Prawet Singwancha (26-2-1, 16 KOs).
*********.com recently asked Elder a few questions concerning what he anticipates the present and future holds for him.
How are you feeling?
I am "Xtremely" blessed and very happy. I am optimistic and eager to see what God has planned for my family and I (all to his Glory). I'm also staying in good shape, training daily and improving rapidly.
How disappointing was the cancellation of your title fight against Juan Diaz?
Initially I was very disappointed, but I understand that God's plans are not always my plans and He gives me peace in any situation.
Did you have an opportunity to see the cut over his eye for yourself, if so, did it seem as though the fight could have gone on?
No, I didn't. I actually doubt there ever was a cut, and if there was it was probably intentional. You see, if I got cut the only thing that could stop me from fighting is the Nevada State Commission. I've actually fought a 12 round title fight with 14 stitches in my mouth, and won! Also, If I had to cancel a fight from a cut there would be pictures all over the internet proving that it was real but there were none from Juan.
There were rumors that Diaz is avoiding you due to an inability to fight well against southpaws, do you agree?
I don't think that me being left handed helped matters, but Juan is "dodging" me because he knows I'm gonna beat him. I told him what I was gonna do and he knows I'm right, southpaw or not. We'll all see soon.
A news flash was recently posted that Diaz is fighting a non-title match in July, how does that make you feel?
Well, I feel like I should be stepping in the ring and winning the WBA World Championship. I'm also begining to see what Juan is made of. If my sources are correct he is fighting Arthur Cruz (20-15-3) who he beat back in November of 2002 (whom he said he knew nothing about in a recent interview). Real champions don't do that. Juan's fans need to ask themselves why they like him. He wasted ten weeks of my time training, twenty-five grand in training expenses, made me miss my family for seven weeks and I never even got an apology. That doesn't sound like a very good guy to me. He also said that he just fights when his manager tells him to. Well, that is nothing but a cop out and a lousy excuse. Who works for who, Juan? Also, I saw Ronnie Shields at Caesars Palace on the night of the fight and he took off like I was the plague. I guess he was ashamed at what they had done. He recently said that he thought the fight wasn't rescheduled because I wanted too much money. How bout this...I'll fight Juan winner take all, in Houston, tonight!
Did you watch the Corrales vs. Castillo fight?
Yes. It was awesome. That was a battle and I congratulate Diego and Jose on a job well done. That fight was good for boxing. If you don't like boxing after watching that...you don't like boxing. I look forward to the rematch.
If things don't pan out at 135, would you be willing to move up to 140?
Regardless of what happens at 135, 140 is a good option, but I honestly can see going to 130 also. I believe that me and Erik Morales would be a great fight for the fans.
Explain the separation from your father as both trainer and manager.
Well first let me say I love my dad and our relationship is much more important to me than anything I could ever do in boxing. It's just a new season. Time for me and him to grow, God's way.
Please share a last word to all of your fans.
Well, first I want to thank them for the support and prayers. Also, thank you to everyone who bought the April 23rd PPV or came to Vegas to see it live. I'm sorry that it didn't take place but I've got good news. Juan can run but he can't hide! I'm fighting for the WBA title eliminator September 16th. After I win Juan will have to fight and give me the title shot I deserve. I encourage you to be a fan not only because of what I do in the ring but because of who I am and what I believe. I'm not afraid of losing. I'm just afraid of succeeding at things that don't matter.
I would like to comment on the Maywether vs. Gatti fight. I would like to say that Gatti is a warrior and a champion win or lose. He just happened to be in the ring with the best fighter in the world. Floyd never ceases to impress me with perfect technique and amazing speed. Good job Floyd.

hahahaha...sounds like Juan is catching hell for doing IN HIS YOUTH (according to Elder that is, who I assume speaks only the truth right??) what alot of champs in the prime of their careers do?? How many times has Mayweather, Jones, Hopkins, etc. been accused of 'dodging' others?? Many times.
Dont think I'll be holding this against him, since it's a common thing among fighters, and so far there is nothing but EBO ELDERS say so that this is even the case.

Wow if Ebo fought Erik, it would put Diaz is a very tough spot... probably have to give up his paper championship just so he dont get humiliated by Erik's superior experience and skill.
Juan is young and he shouldnt be fighting tough opposition, but he shouldnt have the WBA belt either ... I dont know if Ebo beats him, i know Elder beat a Nacho Beristain fighter not long ago and that really is a good thing as far as what he can do is concerened.
Erik would be too much for Juan, it would be off to school and thats it if it ever came.
Juan has good stamina, but he is inneficient, and always comes in a little pudgy.
