Ward/Green vs Gevor/Sturm

What made these fight so different especially the outcomes?

Occasionally the home town ref would separate the two and deliberately move the fight completely to the center of the rings, allowing Sturm to throw a couple of pretty combinations. But other than that Gevor applied basically the same inside fighting tactic and, although not incredibly effective like Ward, managed to land quite a lot of punches over the course of the fight.

Sturm however, escaped with a 115-113 (2x) and 117-111 decision. Ironically, Raul Caiz, the ref for the Ward/Green fight was one of the judges who scored the bout for Sturm.

it was close but felix who landed the much clearer shots ****** gevor.
everytime gevor came he came with his head first. its an miracle how there was no bad headbutts or cuts, but Sturm is such a professional fighter he controlled the situation and kept it cool.

I had this 7-5 for Gevor giving Sturm two close rounds. It seemed like even when the referee was separating them, Sturm was landing maybe one or two shots out of a pretty looking combo and being pushed right back into the ropes. The only head I say moving side to side or up and down during these long inside match ups on the ropes was Sturms. Gevor was landing clean and being rather effective in every round.

And even the combinations he'd throw in the middle of the ring would only land one punch occasionally. But obviously, the crowd was going wild as if he was landing every single punch.

Which ever way you call it Sturm-Gevor was a close fight. Ward-Green wasn't.

Iv'e heard alot of people say the fight was controversial, I dont think it was. Gevor was being very aggressive but alot of the time it was ineffective aggression. He would come in and throw alot of punches most of which dont land and then Sturm would land a 2 or 3 punch flurry at the end of the round. I dont blame judges for giving rounds like that to Sturm. Clean punching is very important in scoring and although Gevor did do alot of work, He didnt land many clean punches. I scored it 115-113 for Sturm.

I can understand you having an issue with the 117-111 scorecard but I dont think you can say Gevor was robbed. The rounds he "won" were usually close rounds, I dont think he was convincing enough to get the decision. It was close but I thought Sturm landed the clean, effective punches and deserved the decision based on that.
