By Jake Donovan - Where there’s smoke, there is supposed to be fire. The 140 lb. division remains in the headlines lately, there very little in the way of blazing matchups seem to come of all of the recent talk.

Historically, it’s the same as it ever was.

For whatever reason, the boys at 140 just can’t seem to get together to produce THAT fighter, one to where everyone feels compelled to move up (or down) in weight for the sake of chasing the money.

The division has forever remained loaded with talent, but left behind has been a trail of squandered momentum and missed opportunities. More of the same is threatening to happen now. Everyone is talking a good game, but snatching headlines and signing on the dotted line remain two very different matters altogether. [Click Here To Read More]

they should have a 140 super six on an accelerated schedule. Each fighter fights 2 times over a 12 month period.

    - Khan
    - Maidana
    - Bradley
    - Alexander
    - Ortiz
    - JMM (name recognition + established fighter)

I got dreamy when the super 6 got put together. I really hoped one or 2 other divisions would try it on to. Because of the barrier between Showtime and HBO, that might be asking too much. But good point about Bradley-Alexander. A tournament is great, but that fight alone establishes the best man at JWW. Disappointed Bradley brushed it off when Devon was yelling for his hide. Now Khan is after the JMM-Diaz winner and Maidana got all these problems. 140 is definitely disappointing right now.

Great article... The most talented and loaded division in boxing and none of these guys are actually fighting each other but instead fighting unknown welterweights and lightweights... Where's Bradley vs. Alexander, Khan vs. Ortiz, Bradley vs. Khan, Maidana vs. Khan, Ortiz vs. Maidana II... Get Mike Alvarado in the mix... Damn it make some fights happen

good article....its going to be hard for any of these guys to become a star if no one steps up and fight. mayweather fought top talent guys early in his career even if they didn't bring much money because he knew that he had to

It's just not about making the fighter into a big $
star through working their way up to the top to
become a demand anymore. All of these young
guys see Floyd and Pac making big money and
want it too but the difference is that Floyd and
Pac had to work their way up the hard way to
become a mega star in boxing by fighting some
top contenders and champions. I think that the
fighters are willing because fighting is their lives
but the promoters, managers and advisors want
to try to cash in on these fighters before their
              worth is established.

This is an obvious Khan-hating article. Khan is the cash cow. Bradley and Alexander aren't. Bradley and Alexander first have to raise their profile to justify a fight against Khan. Their profile will be raised when they fight eachother like Khan had suggested. Because after Khan beats JMM/Maidana he will and shall fight the winner of the Bradley-Alexander fight.

The promoters are screwing up any big fights. Khan wants to fight Maidana but Schaefer don't want any. Alexander wants Bradley but Tim and his whole camp don't want none.
